London is the biggest city in the United Kingdom and is home to many events, festivals, celebrations, attractions, heritage sites and lots more. It is one of the best places in the world to celebrate, enjoy and have fun on weekends. Here are some events of the 1st weekend of August in London.
Kids Week is one of the joyful events and it happens from 1st August to 31st August. This event is for children aged 16 and under. You can enjoy some of the shows for free of cost if accompanied by an adult paying for a full ticket. There are many exciting shows lined up for 3rd August and 4th August including The 39 Steps, Brainiac Live, Let It Be, Thriller Live, Stomp, A Chorus Line, Dirty Dancing- The Classic Story on Stage, Spamalot, Fences, Jersey Boys and many more.
The Camden Fringe:
The Camden Fringe is one of the most expected events this month and it happens till 25th August. There are many events with around 180 different productions and 17 venues across the borough. This event features comedy, dramatic arts, poetry, dance, music and lots more. Around 33 shows will take place on 3rd August in various venues such as Etcetera Theatre, The Camden Head, The Sheephaven Bay, The Etrusco Bar and more. Around 24 shows will take place on 4th August including Bitter water, Eight, The Wrong Side of Right, Exiles, I Am Happy, Second Class Parents and more.
Buckingham Palace Summer Opening:
This official residence of Queen Elizabeth II is one of the top attractions in the world and visitors get a chance to look around 19 State Rooms of Buckingham Palace every year. The State Rooms will open on 3rd August and it will be open till 29th September. ‘The Queen’s Coronation 1953’ is the special exhibition for this year’s visitors.
The annual cycling festival will take place on 3rd August and 4th August at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Around 70,000 cyclists will take part on Saturday, 4th August and they will ride in Central London. This is an annual world class event and it includes stalls, expos and much more. It was developed by Mayor of London, London & Partners and Transport for London in partnership with Surrey County Council.
The Bolshoi Ballet:
The Bolshoi Ballet: 50th Anniversary Season, returns to the Royal Opera House. It features spectacular ballet productions including Swan Lake, La Bayadere, The Sleeping Beauty, Jewels and The Flames of Paris. La Bayadere is one of the greatest works by Marius Petipa and it will take place at 2.00pm and 7:30pm on 3rd August, Saturday. The performance will last for about 3 hours with two intervals.
