London City Airport is a single-runway airport primarily serving the financial district of London. It is located on a former Docklands site, east of the City of London. It was developed by the engineering company Mowlen in 1986/87 and in 2010 it was the fifth busiest airport in terms of passengers and aircraft movement in the London area and was also the 14th busiest in the UK. There are however restrictions of the types of aircraft allowed at this airport, only multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft with special aircraft and aircrew certification to fly 5.5 degree approaches are allowed to conduct operations at London City Airport.
London City Airport is linked to the financial centers of Canary Wharf and the City via the Docklands Light Railway station adjoined to the terminal building. The DLR offers links to the London Underground, Overground and Southeastern trains; with a train almost every 8 to 15 minutes. London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford International are the nearest rail stations.
Buses operate to and from London City Airport. Bus services 473 and 474 run to all East London destinations. After the construction of the DLR line, express shuttle buses from the airport to different destinations were withdrawn.

The terminal has information counters and users can approach the counters for any queries.

The airport has wheelchair ramps, adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones for the disabled. Emergency phone lines are available for them as well. Bus services operate with wheel chairs.
